Hello and Welcome to my Art Newsletter. This is only my second newsletter, and many exciting events have happened over the last month. As usual, I hope you enjoy the artwork, and comments are always very welcome!
Featured Work: Pelican Peeking
I had already planned to feature this work for this month's issue, and just as the paint dried the work sold to a local collector and business person. Reproductions are available in prints and cards, though, and the work is in the set of Whimsical Animals that I now market at galleries and boutiques throughout the area.
"Pelican Peeking" - 30"x40" oil on canvas
This close-up of an Eastern Brown Pelican shows off its vivid color and varied textures. The artist has always wondered what pelicans must be thinking as they sit there trying to pretend they're invisible. The rosey pink background gives this work a slight unearthly quality and ties in the rest of the colors. Textures abound, with the different types of feathers and the scumbled texture of the bone-like beak. This painting is one of the latest in the my line of "whimsical" animals, and this one fits right in to that theme!
News and Events:
-
In addition to exhibiting his original paintings at The Fat Cat Ltd. in Oak Ridge, North Carolina, Scott now markets a line of prints and cards in local area shops and boutiques.
These affordable works include postcards, card sets, ready-to-frame matted prints in three sizes (11"x14", 8"x10" and 5"x7"), and even Stand-Ups, which prop nicely on a counter, dresser or desk with no frame needed!
- The deadline to apply for membership in the Cosmic Cow Society is Friday, September 12. If you're interested, send an e-mail to info@cosmiccowsociety.com. We've received a nice number of applications, but there's always room for a few more. Go Here to see the Press Release.
- Two of Scott Plaster's works, "Psychic Monkey" and "Mystic Tiger" were recently featured in the Endangered Species Group at Redbubble.com.
