The Cosmic Cow Society Announces Opening Art Show and Public Art Talk Series
The Cosmic Cow Society is kicking off its public mission by hosting its first group art show and a series of public "art talks." The Cosmic Cow is an arts organization formed to promote art and culture in Central North Carolina. It is made up of a diverse group of emerging and established artists in a variety of media, some of whom are regionally known and exhibited throughout the area in galleries such as the Marshall Gallery, the Blue Diamond, and the Green Hill Center for NC Art.
The opening group art show, "Natural Bliss: Instinct and Inspiration," will be held December 2-January 4 at the Maya Gallery on 340 Tate Street, Greensboro, NC. The show will feature work by the twelve artist members of the Cosmic Cow Society in acrylic, watercolor, oil, collage, mixed media, fiber arts, and pottery. Styles range from the abstract and realistic to the whimsical and surreal. The Maya Gallery and Cosmic Cow will host an opening reception on Thursday, December 4 from 7-9 p.m. at the gallery. Food will be provided by Let's Dish of Greensboro and the gallery will host local musical talent for entertainment. The Maya Gallery is just doors down from Tate Street Coffee. Visit our website for a special coupon to use there on the night of the show. The reception will be catered by the Greensboro franchise of Let's Dish, a company who hosts in-store cooking sessions, prepares meals for pick-up or delivery, and even hosts private cooking parties. The art reception is open to the public and free, but a small donation to the entertainers is encouraged.
The Cosmic Cow Society will also host a series of public art talks on the second Friday of each month at the Maya Gallery. The first art talk will be in January. The series is called START -- Smart Talk about ART, and will feature guest speakers from around the region. The open discussions will highlight key issues of concern to the community as they relate to the artist, the art world, and to the average person. Speakers will use their work and others to discuss issues and trends and involve the audience in an open, inviting forum. If you haven't talked about art lately, it's time you START. Our first speaker will be announced at a later time.
The Cosmic Cow Society invites you to come out and explore new artwork and engage in lively discussion on how to make art a more active ingredient in our everyday lives. More information about these events, the member artists, and the organization as a whole can be found on its website at http://cosmiccowsociety.com.
