Hello and Welcome to my Art Newsletter. So many things have been happening at once that I've barely been able to keep up! Please take a few minutes to take a look at what I've been up to. If you know of someone else who might be interested, forward this to them because it's really easy to subscribe... Enjoy the artwork and let me know what you think...

Featured Work: the original "Cosmic Cow"

This is the painting that started it all...my current series of "whimsical" animals, my class mascot, the namesake of the Cosmic Cow Society, and my career in art. It is currently hanging in the window of the Maya Gallery on Tate Street to welcome visitors to the group's first show, "Natural Bliss: Instinct and Inspiration." It was recently featured on the cover of the December Community Arts Cafe magazine. You can read about how I came to paint it in the CAC article about my work.

Cosmic Cow

"Cosmic Cow" - 30"x40" oil on canvas
"Scott Plaster's artist eye couldn't help but notice the cow. It stood alongside the Blue Ridge Parkway, looking so out of place as cars whizzed by. Plaster snapped a photograph. Someday, he knew, he would paint that cow..." Read the whole story in GoTriad...

The "Cosmic Cow" has received lots of interest as of late; there is only one original and it is for sale (although I may miss it) ...

News and Events:

  • Scott's is the featured artist of the month at Chelsee's on Trade Street in Winston-Salem the month of December. Don't miss this chance to see 15 of Plaster's works, including his "whimsical" animals and his latest landscapes.
  • Plaster was recently the Community Arts Cafe artist of the week. Check out the article.
  • The Cosmic Cow Society is hosting its first group show this month; it's not too late to see works by nine of its members at the Maya Gallery on 340 Tate Street in Greensboro (through January 4).
  • The new Community Arts Cafe website is now live. The one-of-a-kind website offers a Triad edition and seven regional editions for the 11-county Central NC area -- the only site in the Triad with this type of coverage. The CAC still offers free weekly and monthly electronic issues, but now the website offers the latest in news and events. Register on the website to participate in Forums and personalize your calendar. You can even export (via iCAL) events to your desktop or phone and subscribe to press releases with an RSS feed. Business sponsorships are available that reach the entire region, or target a local community.
  • Arts Organizations, Venues, Galleries, and Artists can submit their event listings for free, or get more exposure through an upgraded listing or advertising package.
  • Scott Plaster's Webyoni Design Services has now partnered with Salem Music, LLC to offer website design, creation, and hosting for local businesses. Webyoni's past clients include parts of IBM, restaurants, car dealerships, and an array of small and medium-sized specialty businesses. Recent clients include a small site for local artist Perry Boswell. Check it out!
