Meet Owner John Tatum

Owner John Tatum, has been a local music man for many years. He opened his first music store in 1980 and has owned and operated several other stores since that time including John’s Guitar Shop in Mt. Airy. When friend Sam Moss, closed Sam Moss Guitars in 2002, John saw this as an opportunity to continue Sam’s legacy of local, personal service. The two had worked and played together for many years. John first began playing guitar at age 8. He played bluegrass for several years and later developed an affinity for the blues. John is a skilled instructor in acoustic and electric guitar, bass, banjo and mandolin. He teaches folks of all ages, from the beginner to the experienced musician.
